Back on December 13th, we announced that we were in the midst of installing solar panels on our two New York warehouse roofs.
Solar Panel Installation Complete and Operational!
Well, we’re very pleased to announce that the installation has been completed — just in time to beat the biggest snow storm in recent memory! If the sun ever comes out again, we expect the clean energy generated from our newly-upgraded roof to offset a significant portion of our traditional electricity usage. Stay tuned for details as we quantify the savings!

We sold out of Flavia Kenya last week, and it has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Alterra Kenya is the direct replacement.
Kenya is one of two coffees that fit under Alterra’s “Medium and Bright” category. The other “Medium & Bright” coffee is Alterra’s other African coffee, Ethiopia.

While we are very excited about Mars’ Drinks decision to introduce Alterra coffee and Bright Tea in packets for their Flavia brewers, there is one downside. Almost every Flavia coffee and tea packet has a new replacement, but Flavia English Breakfast Decaf has been discontinued entirely.
There are no “decaf” options in the Bright Tea Company’s lineup. However, the three Bright Tea herbals (Peppermint, Raspberry, and Lemon) are naturally caffeine-free, so they are one option.

Another option for decaf tea drinkers is to switch to tea bags. Your Flavia brewer can be used to dispense hot water, and Coffee Distributing Corp. carries a number of different tea bag products.

We have officially sold out of Flavia French Vanilla packets, which have been discontinued by Mars Drinks. Alterra Coffee Roasters’ direct replacement is Alterra French Vanilla.
French Vanilla is one of Alterra’s two flavored coffees, the other being Hazelnut. Both are Rainforest Alliance Certified.

Flavia Bright Tea with Jasmine has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and officially sold out this week. The Bright Tea Company, owned by Mars Drinks, has a direct replacement — their new Green Tea with Jasmine.
Whereas previously Flavia offered two Green Teas, The Bright Tea Company now offers three Green Tea selections: Green Tea with Jasmine, Select Green, and Japanese Green Tea. Japanese Green Tea is priced at a premium to all of the other Alterra Coffee and Bright Tea options. Select Green is an alternative that has tested very well with the vast majority of Japanese Green Tea drinkers.
