Introducing Bright Tea Peppermint Herbal for your Flavia single-cup brewer!

We’ve just sold out of the old Flavia Peppermint, which has been discontinued by the manufacturer and replaced with the new Bright Tea Peppermint Herbal (Buy Now: code BTPEP).

Note that while Peppermint Herbal is not technically “decaf” it is a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea. Two other Bright Teas fit into the caffeine-free herbal category: Lemon (BTLEMON) and Raspberry (BTRASP).

Raw arabica coffee bean prices have now more than doubled in the past twelve months.

When we posted a blog item on the coffee market back in October, coffee prices were up 44.2% year-to-date. In November, we reported that the market was up 58.4%. In January, coffee prices seemed to be peaking, up 67.6%. But now we feel compelled to present another update, as market prices have surged to a level more than double where they were a year ago at this time.

All of this comes at a time when economists report that the overall rate of inflation in our economy remains low.

If you run a convenience store or similar type of re-sale location, our mission is to help you to sell as much coffee as possible, keep your customers happy and loyal, and maximize profits. As Green Mountain’s wholesale distributor in the New York Metro area, we have an entire program available to you to help achieve these goals. As a coffee customer of ours, you are eligible to receive these point of sale / point of purchase (POS / POP) materials — free.

Our updated Green Mountain C-Store Page now includes photos of a small sampling of these branded materials. We have a much larger library of goodies than we can show on one page — including banners, stickers, signs, menu boards, coffee-of-day labels, wrapped airpots, table tents, posters, loyalty cards, condiment stations, and more — all branded with the Green Mountain logo to promote the high-quality, world famous coffee that you sell.

Sunkist cans bear a manufacture date code, not an expiration date or sell-by date code. The soda is considered fresh for 39 weeks from the manufacture date (13 weeks for diet product and product in plastic bottles).

The first step is to be sure to locate the correct code. It is printed on the bottom of the can. However, there are often other codes on the bottom of the can as well — codes which have nothing to do with the dating of the product, so don’t get confused.

To read the date, understand that:

  • The first two digits refer to the month (01 for January through 12 for December)
  • The next three digits refer to the day of the year (out of 365)
  • The final digit tells you the year of manufacture
  • Sunkist Soda Can Expiration Sell-By Manufacture Code Date

This Can (12 337 0) Was Manufactured In December 2010

In the example pictured, “12 337 0″ tells us that this can of soda was produced in early December of 2010 (specifically, the 337th day of the year, if you care to count them out). The soda will be considered “expired” around September 2011.

This information is frustratingly difficult to get from Sunkist or from Google searches. Hopefully this post helps someone in the future. We will add more posts under the tag “Expiration Codes” and try to build a mini-database. Unfortunately, while many manufacturers print sell-by dates in clear English, many others use obscure codes that keep the consumer guessing — often confusing us into thinking that we’re about to consume something that’s wildly outdated, even though it may be perfectly fine. The Tassimo single-cup system is unique in that it is a barcode-based system. The machine reads the barcode to brew each drink according to its ideal specifications. This also prevents commercial product from being used in Tassimo’s home brewer models.

You’ll notice an empty blue t-disc and an empty yellow t-disc come with your Tassimo system. Don’t discard them! Insert the blue disc to get the brewer to dispense hot water. Insert the yellow disc to tell the machine to run a cleaning cycle.
