CDC Now Sells Starbucks K-Cups!

This new line includes six different coffees, ranging from blonde (light) to dark:

Veranda Blend (KSBV) (Blonde) – Available Now!
Roasting this blend of specially chosen Latin American beans for a shorter time allows the delicate nuances of soft cocoa and lightly toasted nuts to blossom. Mellow and flavorful, this coffee brews a delightfully gracious cup.

Breakfast Blend (KSBBB) (Medium) – Upon Request!
This lighter-bodied and milder coffee features bright citrus notes and a clean finish. A wonderful first cup of the day.

Pike Place Roast (KPP) (Medium) – Upon Request!
A delicious blend with soft acidity, smooth body and subtle flavors of cocoa and toasted nuts.

House Blend (KSBHB) (Medium) – Available Now!
Wonderful balance, crisp acidity, nut and cocoa notes, and a touch of sweetness from the roast.

Sumatra (KSBS) (Dark) – Upon Request!
Big and bold with distinctive earthly aroma and lingering low notes. It’s heavy, full body and concentrated herbal spice notes are hallmarks of great coffee from Sumatra.

French Roast (KSBFR) (Dark) – Available Now!
Dark Roast – Not for the faint of heart, delectably smoky, intense, and uncompromising.

Unlike the rest of our extensive K-Cup line, sold in 24-count boxes (96 K-Cups per case), Starbucks K-Cups are currently sold in 16-count retail boxes (160 K-Cups per master case). Sometime around October 2012, we expect a conversion to 24-count boxes.

Ascension is a key member of our “night crew.” Caretaker of the keychain, he is responsible for our beloved CDC trucks, shuttling 60+ New York vehicles around as they return from a long day of deliveries, get unloaded, cleaned, and then expertly parked in the appropriate section of our parking lot.

On nice days, the job has its perks — fresh air and exercise, as he makes countless trips between our warehouse and parking lot. But no matter the weather, Ascencion is as dependable as they come. Once the trucks are situated for the night, Ascencion pitches in with the rest of the warehouse crew until all orders have been packed and CDC closes down for the night. On his four-year anniversary with CDC, we are pleased to present Ascencion with this honor.

In 2011, Our Electric Bills Declined By 30% Vs. 2010!

Our solar panels were installed during December, 2010 and became operational in January, 2011 (just in time for some epic snow storms). Analyzing our electric bills for the full 2010 calendar year (pre-solar) and comparing it with 2011 (post-solar), we were able to quantify the impact that generating our own clean, renewable energy has had on our traditional electric use.

We actually installed solar panels on the roofs of two adjacent buildings. From 2010 to 2011, our electric bills dropped by about 39% at our 190 Broadway building, and by roughly 24% at our larger 200 Broadway location. Overall, the solar panels offset 30.9% of our electricity usage!

Kathy is in her 11th year with Coffee Distributing Corp. In her role as Customer Relations Representative, she is responsible for checking in with our existing customers via phone, introducing new programs and inquiring whether there is anything else we can do to improve our level of service. She goes the extra mile to make sure that any issues she uncovers are promptly and thoroughly addressed.

During the month of February, in the midst of some staff shortages in our Customer Relations department, Kathy volunteered to take on extra responsibilities while still maintaining the same level of attentiveness to the needs of her customer base. Congratulations to Kathy for earning this honor!

The C150 is a small-office brewer. For larger offices with heavier usage, the C400 brewer is still the best single-cup option.

The C150 is a pour-over brewer with a small footprint (it measures 14.4″ high x 9.1″ wide x 13.5″ deep). The water tank actually detaches, to make refilling neat and easy. The brew head is vertically-adjustable to accommodate different sizes of cups or mugs. It can brew the entire range of Mars Drinks, including Alterra Coffee, Bright Tea, and two-pack drinks such as cappuccino.

Flavia's Newest Single-Cup Brewer: The C150

How is the C150 different from the Flavia C200 brewer?

The C150 is smaller, lighter, and slightly less expensive than the C200, Flavia’s mid-size office coffee brewer. Both models can brew the entire range of Mars Drinks, and neither features auto-eject of spent packets (unique to the C400 model). One key advantage of the C200 is that it can be plumbed-in to a water line or be used as a pour-over machine. The C150 strictly operates as a pour-over brewer.

How is the C150 different from the Flavia SB100 brewer?

Flavia’s previous small office brewer was the SB100. The C150 takes its place with several upgrades. The biggest change is that the C150 can brew two-pack drinks. The C150′s removable water tank and adjustable brew head are two smaller improvements that users of the SB100 will appreciate greatly.

The most recent PADD Data for the New England region, dated 3/5/12, reports an average gas price of $3.819/gallon and an average diesel price of $4.253/gallon. The average of the two comes to $4.036, triggering our new fuel charge.
